Description
Ventosa is a small village with historical significance along the Camino de Santiago. It is located in the La Rioja region of Spain, known for its vineyards and wine production. The village dates back to the 10th century and has been a resting point for pilgrims since medieval times. The Church of San Saturnino, built in the 16th century, is the main historical attraction in Ventosa. It is dedicated to Saint Saturnin, a 3rd-century martyr who was the first bishop of Toulouse and is considered one of the patron saints of the Camino de Santiago. The church features a beautiful Baroque altarpiece and a wooden statue of Saint James, highlighting its connection to the pilgrimage route. Ventosa has preserved its medieval layout, with narrow streets and traditional stone houses, offering a glimpse into the past for pilgrims passing through.
