Description

Sansol is a small village with historical significance on the Camino de Santiago. Located in the autonomous community of Navarre, Spain, it has been a resting point for pilgrims since the Middle Ages. The village's name is derived from the Latin "Sancti Zoili," referring to Saint Zoilus, a Christian martyr who was venerated in the region. One of the main historical landmarks in Sansol is the Church of San Zoilo, a 12th-century Romanesque church dedicated to the saint. The church features a beautiful façade with intricate carvings and a bell tower. Throughout history, the village has provided essential services to pilgrims, such as accommodation, food, and spiritual support. Today, Sansol continues to welcome pilgrims on their journey along the Camino de Santiago, offering a glimpse into the rich history of this ancient pilgrimage route.
