Description

Uterga is a small village in the Navarre region of Spain with a rich history tied to the Camino de Santiago. It is located at the foot of the Alto del Perdón, a significant landmark for pilgrims on the Camino de Frances. The village dates back to medieval times, and its historical significance is evident in the Church of San Pedro, which was built in the 12th century. This Romanesque church features a beautiful façade with intricate carvings, including a depiction of Saint James, the patron saint of the Camino de Santiago. In addition to the Church of San Pedro, Uterga is known for its traditional stone houses that line the narrow streets of the village. These houses are a testament to the village's long-standing connection to the Camino de Santiago, as many of them served as accommodations for pilgrims throughout history.
