Description

Trinidad de Arre, also known as Villava, is a locality with historical significance on the Camino de Santiago. Located near the city of Pamplona, it is known for its picturesque medieval bridge, Puente de la Trinidad, which crosses the River Ulzama. This bridge has been an important crossing point for pilgrims since the Middle Ages. The Monastery of La Trinidad de Arre, founded in the 12th century, is another significant historical site in the area. It served as a hospital and shelter for pilgrims traveling the Camino de Santiago during medieval times. The monastery's Romanesque architecture and its well-preserved church, which features a beautiful wooden altarpiece, are highlights for visitors. Today, the monastery continues to provide accommodation for pilgrims, maintaining its centuries-old tradition of hospitality.
