Description
Triacastela is a small Galician village with a rich history related to the Camino de Santiago. Its name is derived from the three castles that once stood in the area, although no traces of these castles remain today. Triacastela has been a significant resting point for pilgrims since the Middle Ages, offering essential services such as food, lodging, and medical care. The village is home to the Church of Santiago, which dates back to the 12th century and features a Romanesque portal. Additionally, the surrounding landscape is characterized by lush forests and traditional stone houses, providing a picturesque setting for pilgrims to rest and reflect on their journey. As a historical locality on the Camino de Frances, Triacastela continues to welcome and support pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela.
