Ferreiros is a small hamlet located along the Camino de Santiago, specifically on the Camino Francés route. This stage is part of the journey between Sarria and Portomarín, which is approximately 22.4 kilometers (13.9 miles) in length. The name 'Ferreiros' is derived from the word 'ferreiro,' which means blacksmith in Galician, indicating the historical presence of blacksmiths in the area. The Camino de Santiago, also known as the Way of St. James, is a network of pilgrimage routes leading to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain, where the remains of the apostle St. James the Great are believed to be buried. The Camino Francés is the most popular and traditional route, beginning in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in France and covering approximately 780 kilometers (485 miles) across northern Spain. The stage from Sarria to Portomarín, which includes Ferreiros, is known for its beautiful landscapes, featuring lush green hills, forests, and rural farmlands.
