Description

Cizur Menor is a small village located in the region of Navarre, Spain. Historically, it has been an important stop for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago due to its proximity to Pamplona, the capital of Navarre. The village has a rich history dating back to the Roman era, with the remains of a Roman villa discovered nearby. One of the most significant historical landmarks in Cizur Menor is the Church of San Juan Bautista, which dates back to the 12th century. This Romanesque church features a beautiful façade with intricate carvings and a bell tower. The church has been a place of worship and refuge for pilgrims throughout the centuries. Additionally, the village is home to the Order of Malta, a religious and military order with a long-standing connection to the Camino de Santiago. The order's presence in the village dates back to the 12th century, and their albergue continues to provide accommodation and support for pilgrims today.
