Description

Boadilla del Camino is a small village with a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. It is situated in the province of Palencia, in the autonomous community of Castile and León, Spain. The village has been an important stop for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago since its inception, due to its strategic location between the cities of Burgos and León. Historically, Boadilla del Camino was a place of rest and respite for weary pilgrims, offering essential services such as food, shelter, and medical assistance. The village is known for its well-preserved medieval architecture, including the Church of Santa María, which dates back to the 16th century. Additionally, the village features a beautiful 18th-century stone pilgrim's fountain, known as the Fuente del Piojo, which served as a water source for both pilgrims and their animals.
